Warning This post and the comments/replies in this post will contain spoilers.Hey Everyone, It's been a couple of days since the Release of the newest Halo (e)book: Halo: New Blood. Like Wangtime, I have finished reading the book and I can say I was pretty impressed, but I was wondering what you people would have to say about it. > What did you think about what happened to each Member of the Squad? Was it expected? > How do you think these events will impact future canon/lore/events? > Was there any major plot twists for you, that you didn't see coming? I wish they didn't kill off Rookie, honestly. Not only that, but I don't like the way they killed him off. It makes sense the way he died, but I don't in any way, like it.

Honestly, I don't think there is any right way to kill off a character like him or Chief. There just isn't a suitable death for emotionally broken characters like that, so any death would suck really. There probably could've more story that could be flushed out before the Rookie's death, but not all hope is lost for another novel that takes place prior to his death. |

Wasn't happy with the whole kill Rookie thing and the Mickey betrayal just rubbed me the wrong way. Not in a "This is stupid" way, just a "Wow, how does a kid that fun go so wrong?" Kinda like a parent being disappointed in their child.
It just makes going back to play ODST that much more tragic really, for what is a quiet yet upbeat game it's sure gonna take the fun out of it when you realize that the Rookie is dead and Mickey literally transformed into Mickey the dick.
Other than that, I enjoyed the book very much. I had the audio book so listening to constant recaps for the first two hours was a bit grueling but the storyline after that was very good. 10/10 would download with a free Audible trial again.

Hey, if every hero had a heroic death, it would just get boring. I think this was a good reminder to let people know that the Rookie, in the end, was only a marine. (Well, ODST but there really just the same thing) |
