Depends really on the situation. I don't remember seeing any flood containment or studies on The Ark, and many people believe he is there. His best possibility would be on a Halo, which the forerunners surely haven't given him the location data to. My money says, because Thel and Locke really need Master Chief's help on this, that a new threat has emerged. I believe this threat are The Precursors, who I see being the more likely to bring in the flood and a lot of it. Honestly, I really hope its NOT the Precursors. I think they should stay sacred and just kinda briefly mentioned. I'd prefer them not to make an entrance into the games. But maybe thats just me? If it was a "new" enemy, I would hope it'd be something actually new. Liiiike, how the Brutes were new to the Covenant type of thing. Good chance more promethean/forerunner stuff will appear. And what about Halsey coming back? Maybe they need Chief cause they know he'll be able to stop her. With how things appear to be, my money says that the Precursors will turn up in a game eventually. The thing is though that Halo 5 Guardians doesn't take place long after Halo 4, while Spartan Ops takes place six months after the events of Halo 4. Halsey hasn't even stepped foot on the Infinity yet. And even if I'm wrong about this, Halsey requires the other half of the Janus Key before she can do anything, and the UNSC has the other half.

Maybe the course of Halo 5 takes place over a long period of time? Could be a year long time frame, or even a six/seven month time frame where Halsey comes in at the end of the game.

That sounds quite possible, and hopefully 343i does something along those lines. Reach spanned over a long time-frame, so I don't see why Halo 5 can't.

I hope so… This could spark a new conversation, but I hope they make a Harvest game, or a Ghosts of Onyx styled game. As a spin off like Reach and ODST (kinda), not part of the numerical games.

The most Harvest I need is in Halo Wars, and before that I don't believe there were any spartans on the planet when they were first attacked in the novel. However, something involving the Spartan IIIs, like Ghost of Onyx, I wouldn't mind playing at all. Even if it was solely campaign. To keep it related to the topic, I gotta say something along these lines: Now, if only we could see the Spartan IIIs in action against the flood. A lot of people believe they are far better fighters than even the Spartan IIs, and I know that if there is any record of them encountering the flood, it was only in a novel. Halo 5 needs to bring in more Spartan III characters so I can see this. You know, Spartan IIs and IVs are fine, but the IIIs are just such a better deal.

And if it goes with the book, you could EVEN PLAY AS JOHNSON!) But hell, Ghosts of Onyx is my favourite novel by far, I'd love that so much as a game. Anyways, I HATE Spartan IV's… and I believe Spartan IIs are stronger (from what I know, so Im prob wrong, but in my opinion II's are stronger/better. Tis why one trains the III's) But I'd love to play -or even see- some Spartan III's doing anything.

Aren't Spartan III's the expendable troops?

The Spartan III's consisted of a bunch of kids that were trained probably harder than those within the Spartan II program, and were genetically augmented and given armor by the time they were around twelve years old. Ackerson's entire point in making them was so they could be expendable.

Haven't read the books in a while so I forget their names and what company they were in. I just know they were very young and destroyed a LOT of Covenant.

There was more than two, there were hundreds of IIIs. I believe that a lot of Gamma Company survived, and I haven't read ghost of Onyx, so they may be the two you are referencing. However, if I'm not wrong, I believe most of Noble Team consisted of Spartan IIIs, and Jun did survive Reach (Initiation is evidence). So, technically, we can add him to the known surviving Spartan IIIs.

Well, it all depends if we go to the ark it will return, or just any forerunner construct (as the flood just love to show up just as we arrive). I, for one don't want it to return because if it does, I have a feeling humanity one survive it again, they fought it once but twice. Even if they have infinity, we saw what they did to high charity a floating planet as big as infinity with thousands of covenant. transformed to a flood world in just hours. Infinity is humanity's first defense and if it infects most of the crew on infinity, the spartans don't stand a chance. But the only way you could survive that is with Chief and with his emotional state. Let's just say Cortana ain't gonna save him again. Canonically she won't come back and without her chief isn't chief.

I think, and actually hope, that the Flood return! Ever since we got our hands on Promethean weapons, weapons that were meant to fight the Flood, I've wanted to try them out on them. Scattershots would be really cool to use against combat forms.

(I believe from Ghosts of Onyx) But if you haven't read that you really should, it's my favourite halo book.

For christmas, I ordered myself Silentium, The Flood, and a bunch of World of Warcraft books. I gotta lotta reading to do before I can get to the good stuff. The Spartan III stuff.
